Justice Vichai Ariyanuntaka

The Honourable Justice Vichai Ariyanuntaka was Secretary-General of the ALA from 25 November 2006 until 17 October 2009.  He was elected Secretary-General of the ALA at the 9th ALA General Assembly held in Bangkok, Thailand. 

Justice Ariyanuntaka graduated with law degrees from Chulalongkorn (LLB Hons), the University of Wales (LLB Hons) and the London School of Economics (LLM).  He is qualified as a Thai as well as English Barrister-at-Law (Gray’s Inn).  Justice Vichai was instrumental in the establishment of the first arbitration institute in Thailand, the Arbitration Office Ministry of Justice, where he was Executive Director from 1990 to 1994.  The Office was to become the Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI), the largest arbitration institution in Thailand.  He is also a founding member of the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court, which is now an internationally recognized forum as a model judicial system for dispute resolution in intellectual property matters.

At present, Justice Ariyanuntaka is the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal for Region VIII in Thailand.  He is also a Professor of Law of the prestigious Thammasat University.
