Chief Justice Sansern Kraichitti
Justice Sansern Kraichitti of Thailand is one of the initiators
of ALA who attended the “Conference on Legal Development in
ASEAN Countries” hosted by the Indonesian Ministry of Justice in
Jakarta in February, 1979. He was elected President of ALA when
the Fourth General Assembly was held in Bangkok, Thailand from
November 15-19, 1986.
Born in 1926, the Honourable Sansern Kraichitti graduated
as a Bachelor of Laws from Thammasat University, Bangkok, in
1946 and was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law (Thai) in 1947 and of
Lincoln’s Inn, London, 1952.
Prior to his appointment as Justice of the Supreme Court,
he had occupied the positions of Vice President of the Supreme
Court, Judge of Chiangmai Law Court, Chief Judge of Puket
Province, Secretary of the Supreme Court and Secretary General
of the Thai Bar, Senior Judge of the Court of Appeal, Justice of the
Supreme Court and Chief Justice of the Civil Court and Senator,
1991-2000. Presently, he is a member of the Permanent Court
of Arbitration at The Hague Peace Palace; Chairman of the 7th
Committee of Law Drafting, Council of State; Member of Executive
Committee, National Research Council of Thailand and Thai Red
Cross Society.
