Chief Justice Bagir Manan

The Honourable Chief Justice Prof Dr Bagir Manan SH MCL received his Bachelor of Laws from the prestigious Padjadjaran University in Bandung, Indonesia in 1967 before proceeding to Southern Methodist University Law School in Dallas, Texas in 1981, graduating with a Master of Comparative Laws. In 1990, he was awarded a Doctorate degree on Constitutional Law by the Padjadjaran University. He also completed Educational Programmes in Washington in 1993, and Netherlands in 1997 and 1998.

The Honourable Chief Justice Bagir Manan embarked on his illustrious career as a Member of the  Regional People's Representative Counsel, Municipality of Bandung,  from 1968 - 1971. From 1974 - 1976, he served as Staff to the Minister of Justice. He was appointed Director of Legislation in the Department of Justice from 1990 - 1995, and Director-General, Law & Legislation, Department of Justice from 1995 - 1998. In 2000, he was appointed Head of the Unisba University in Bandung and in the same year, he was also appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court. In 2001, he was appointed to his current position as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia. Official CV.
